You win against me, you always do,
But why is it that I’m the one who is happy?

I kicked you, but you didn’t kick back,
As I tripped over, you even held me a hand.
I was trying to make you angry, in a way to test you,
But you didn’t, then you raised me up.

You never tolerated me even of the whitest lies,
But you always gave me best advice.
You have always been the smart one, but nevertheless,
You were so open, you were ready to listen.

I once saw you scribbling on the shore,
Words that triggered my memory,
You wrote of what once were our disagreements,
And you stood up, the water washes it away.

Then there was this piece of stone,
As you sculptured with a smile,
Remembering our first days of friendship,
Yes, it was all worthwhile.

Someday,
When my life has passed me by,
I’d lie around as I wonder why,
You were always there for me.
